OH ... 'film and TV related ' ... and like that's relevant on a WWII forum ... talk about double standards ..

Well, its my thread and its in a section that's called "Film, TV & Games". Not double standards, just my preference on my thread.
You do like a good old moan don't you? :-) :-) :-)

Im not moaning at all, just answering an idiot that makes more of a fool of himself every time he opens his mouth, however I can see very clearly how someone like you would see it as moaning .. !!

The topic is about a fictional TV scenario where Germany occupied England and what they might have done, my reference was to a book that dealt with a fact based report on what the Germans would have done if they had occupied England .. and if you cant see there is link there then you really do need to take a look at what you read and write closely.

I will tell you what, it has more bearing than a link to a Sci Fi film that has no relevance at all to WWII or belongs on a WWII forum (just because the sub-forum is titled 'Film and TV') and just so you can apparently ‘name drop’ … beats the hell out of me how some here seem to think they are the only ones who have appeared in films or on TV and hung out with a ‘star’

When you can top being in the same room as one of the worlds biggest stars, escorting him and talking to him at an awards ceremony in LA .. then come and boast to me about what you do .. until then shut up please, leave me alone and just let it lie .. OK .. !!

Girls girls put those hand bags down and go down to the pub! Its just a rather tatty bit of cheap tv, there it a welter of the dreary stuff on film and tv and nothing to het up about. It never ceases to amaze me how rational reasonable people have this propensity to completely loose it on any form of social media. I may not agree with what you say but I would die for your right to say it but for gods sake agree to disagree and leave it at that.

I would just add that having spent the entirety of my 46yrs of working life in theatre and music surrounded by "lovies" of every description and I can say with absolute clarity that it is just a job and nothing to get excited about.

pip pip

Hahahaha. :D :D :D

Hilarious come back! Look. You made a statement, which I considered was slightly wrong. You were called on it. No biggie.
The fact you try to turn this thread to something not about the actual subject matter and instead into some offshoot is the problem. As for "Just let it lie", we did that on page three. Just move on. I already said, any arguments, take it to PM, so why keep cluttering up my thread?

Long time no see Mr. Scorggie. Hope we meet on the field this year?

Just watched 20 minutes of it . Agree that the sound does seem better.

The main actors/characters still don't work for me though. Probably me being too picky, or maybe cos I've been spoilt with "Man in the high castle". Bags of kit errors but a cracking show in my opinion

after reading this thread , i thought id mention something about SSGB , i was eagerly awaiting for it to come on to tv for a couple of reasons, it beats the s**t of out most programmes nowdays and secondly , my son was a bit part actor in it ,no he is not a well known actor just something he applied for while he was out of work (he is also in the new star wars movie coming out this year) again just a walk on part ,he has been re-enacting ww2 german as along as me around 10 years he started as hitler youth and now at the age of 21 does know a little bit about german uniforms and how to hold a rifle, he has had his FAC since the age of 17 , and owns a live 1939 k98 and lots of original kit, when filming started he said to me the uniforms were s***e and not realistic but he looked at it as a bit of fun and extra cash , he had no input on the director and as he was being paid to just stand around didnt want to,he wasnt able to put the director right , (he did wear some of his own kit for some shots), although i havnt seen him in any close ups yet, im sure i will, yes the dialogue and story lines are a bit ropey, but he at least tried to hold his weapon correctly and wore what kit he was supplied correctly, and he looked more the part, than others (from stills i have seen), so please dont class everyone in this programme as a numpty

Must agree with you on that one - absolutely loved man in the high castle - tremendous bit of TV! Gripping stuff.

You have my apologies. One shouldn't generalise, and I was wrong to do so. I've been in a couple of things I'm not proud of too.

The Man in the High Castle.... I watched the first season of it, it was ok. You probably know I like a bit of East German kit, so I was happy ;-)

I tried the second season and coming back to it I remember how despite the subject being interesting, it really was up its own exhaust pipe. That's saying something when the first one was Mr Dick's story (he did write a lot of pretentious claptrap, he really did)

In the end I decided to do what I've been meaning to do for ages - get a copy of Robert Harris's "Fatherland" and start reading that. Never have read it before, so far, so good. Best thing about a book - there is no bad acting and no dodgy uniforms :D

One thing which is not generally understood in relation to the camera, is that what is technically correct in relation to kit and drill does not necessarily work for the camera. Thus when looked at from the point of view of a conscientious re-enactor what may be regarded as wrong is quite possibly a deliberate decision on the part of the director who is going for effect over reality. A classic case in point arises from Kitkat's (Ian Sandford) work on Fury in putting together the marching column prior to the assault on the tank which was technically wrong yet visually excellent. One more fact in relation to this is that the vast majority of people watching these films wouldn't know an MP40 from a Sten as it were. In general I don't watch films based on books as the best image generator is undoubtedly ones own imagination and I fully concur with Andy's point about books.

yours till the gin runs out
