There is a 'Dunkirk' film being made this year. There was a casting session for extras in Weymouth (missed that opportunity!), and there has been some filming around Weymouth (beach, harbour) this week.

They are also remaking " Whisky Galore" must be the time to make a series of films about how the British beat the Europeans all on their own?

They wont I think compare at all to the originals, especially 'whisky Galore' .. where on earth would you find the actors today to match the character actors of the original film ... and a period of great British film making ??

Agreed with Correspondent.

What we are missing today is actors, and indeed people of substance in general.

Not to mention that many actors of the 40's and 50's had actually fought during the war.

It was relevant then, not so much today.

It is important, no doubt, to remember those sacrifices and brave, bold men and women, but for the sake of 'entertainment'?

Time for another Azincourt film then?

That was an episode in a French civil war.

And Verneuil 9 years later was probably the greater victory. We only know Agincourt because Shakespeare needed a battle with Henry V actually present.

I'm sure they would have preferred to shag their way through RADA though.

Unless anyone knows differently, how the hell are they going to make a film about Dunkirk, without the obligatory Ju 87 Stukas in attendance. They pounded the troops , squeezed into the Dunkirk area, on the beaches and groins, continously. At least one, even ended up, crashed on the beach. There are none flying, to the best of my knowledge, apart from a 4/5 scale replica in Ukraine.!

Could use trhe same solution as the Battle of Britain film. Models.

Loads of RC Stukas out there.

During the Battle of Britain filming, the engine was successfully started on the surviving Stuka, and ground shots were filmed. It was just too valuable to risk, and too lengthy a process, to certify it again, as airworthy.

Filming continues across Dorset (Swanage for railway scenes, Weymouth beach and harbour area). Went down to Weymouth this morning, was able to see extras and vehicles but no action(crowds were kept away from harbour-side location). I believe the film makers have some aircraft but don't know details.

Going a little off tangent. Saw this article about how the film is having a fashion influence
