I'm trying to complete a signals office impression and need a field desk. I can't find any for sale, so I'm looking for information to be able to make a replica. I've seen several US ones on e-bay, but can't find any information on WW2 british ones. Anyone help?
ta, Doug

This lot was for sale a while back - for about £200 - its sold now, sadly. But it looks good and is a good visual start point for putting a field desk set together.

Hi. Last Sunday at the bootsale I bought various things, including a table with an army Stores code and the date 1956 on it. A bit of research shows it is one of these, I believe (3 in the photo - 2 end-on to each other, the other tucked under cover). Is this what you are talking about? I don't think I want to sell it, but I could certainly give you photos & dimension. http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205209816

hi, its a nice piece of kit. nice find!

i'd certainly like to see some more pics and dimensions. It looks as though it's been modified.

This is half of the kit i'm looking for. The other is a box type affair for storing documents in with the door acting as a writing area.

Anyone else out there with can help?

cheers Doug

In fact I think the "modifications", if you look closely, may have been a mistake in the original construction or something. Anyway, here's a couple of photos. The dimensions are: 41" long x 25" wide x 29" high (105 cm x 63 cm x 74 cm)

By the way, if anyone’s looking for military scrub top office/ field tables, I have quite a few of these coming in on Tuesday.
They are all solid wood and the legs pack away into the base for transit.
They are ex WD and some are stamped (with QCrosn so post WWII).

Neil.

If you're looking for a field desk, we've made them from ACW to WW2.

We're on facebook...link below.

Be very careful about loaning original items...also, please keep an eye out for :
*Still missing* Because some folks are devoid of an ounce of honesty or integrity.
Women's Navy Great Coat
Green floor length 1930s evening dress with sleeves set on net.
Blue and white rayon dress with peplum
Black velvet halter necked dress with silver shot thread skirt (may still have Harrods label in it) I have photos of all of these items and I know where they are in Scunthorpe, but would appreciate a nod if they come up for sale. [/color]
