Hi all,

I've nearly finished the mechanical restoration of the M28 Sightunit for the SO44 Pack Howitzer, all I really need to do now is paint it.

Problem is, no-one seems to stock good old Humbrol OD aerosols. Even the little tins are few and far between.

Any suggestions?

PS, see the pack's own site for piccies:
http://www.geocities.com/pack75mmrestorationpages and go to the sighting section.

If it is the same shade as used on the helmets I can sort you out paint as early as this weekend

We are mustering at Twinwood this Sunday and I would be delighted to Paint it up for you!

Failing that I can do it at Stoneleigh for you

Regards

Lee

Cheers 509, I'll bear it in mind.

Lee, I'll be in our hut all weekend, and I'll have the sightunit with me, along with some other nice items.

See you there then,

Painting of the Sightunit is now finished.

It's a temp. job at the moment, so I can always completely strip it again and refinish it.
You'll all be pleased to know I used the (patent pending) "Bryn Method" and it works pretty well. I found that if you use 3-in-1 oil instead of WD40 it comes out a little darker.

Pictures will be posted in the pack website in an hour or so.

As to Twinwood this weekend, we'll be most likely carrying on work on Hut 44, maybe even putting some paint on the walls! And the Stove-of-Redness will be in full swing, to warm up any wandering FAAA types who may visit again.

Paul

No! You are just using re-enacting as an excuse to escape Barnsley :D
