Hey everyone,

Sorting out my kit ready for the new season. Now there are tons of differing opinions regarding Blanco and there have been countless posts, but please forgive me for asking another.

My impression was originally based on my Uncle, who was a RA AA gunner. I went for a 1939/1940 portrayal. This year, I want to push the portrayal back slightly, and go for a late BoB period, prior to him shipping out to the Far East.

My question is regarding the blanco colour. My kit was blancoed 'Pea-Green', but I have seen from a few sources the colour changed to a very slightly darker shade in 1940?

For example, SoF's liquid blanco has the 1937 Pea-Green as KG97 'Pea-Green'. For 1940 onwards, they have 103 KG green.

So when did the change happen? Does anyone know?

What confuses it more, is the fact my Uncle was in a TA regiment, so I understand that they were one of the last to get new bits of kit...

Could I use either colour and it still be correct??

Cheers

Adrian

I would save either during this period.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have just replied an email from David at Blanco and Bull.

It looks like this period (1940) is a rather grey area!!

Plus your unit could have its own policy at local level.

That would be a lot more straight forward, but I'm not a member of a group. The uniform is just as a 'tribute' to my uncle. I sometimes join in with other groups (RAF for example), but that's why I need my kit to be on form!

I meant the war-time unit your uncle was in.
