Searched around on google but havnt found much information about G43 and Fallschirmjager. Was it commonly used and when did they get those rifles? Seen a few pictures but none from Normandy. Maybe they got the G43 later than Normandy. Anyone would like to share some info or pics? :)

Prob best to stick to a k98 if your going for rifle, nice and easy and lots of proof they used them.

Defo used in Normandy by 3 Fj,seen in some newsreel footage

More issued after the autumn refits prior to the bulge

Still a rare beast in Normandy

from what I have read they didnt use them unless they needed too, the K98 and Mp40 did all they needed to do, the newer weapons were unreliable at best and not very accurate, I know a few units were equiped with Mp44s but this wasnt till late war.

The 5 guys on the back of Tiger 222 seem to think their G43s are ok

I would say thats a rare occurance, and they were, like the mp44, a late war introduction, so few units would have been equiped with them.

There are a number of pictures of FJR 6 men at the time of the invasion with G41. The old Vet who used to belong to FJR 6 LHA said he had a G43 during the Normandy campaign, although if I remember rightly he threw it away for a K98!

They were issued before the MP44 I believe so it's possible some units in Normandy would have received them, although in larger numbers later on.

oh, ok, I thought they came out around the same time as the MP44, but I could be wrong.

My deact MP43 was made Oct 43 so go figure, plenty of time to have got to Normandy?

At LEAST 4 pics of FJR6 in Normandy with G41 and as I said newswreel footage of early stepped forsight G43 in Normandy with 3 FJD

research is the key

On most forums, but dont you dare tell them, it makes you a bad man.

My MP43 was made in 1944.

Politics over historical correctness or basically what looks COOL every time is the way to go in this hobby

Thnking outside the box or past cheap WW2 books is the key in my opinion, but thats my opinion and like arseholes weve all got one
