I didn't know where to put this so I'll put it here. So what's the best aircraft? I tried to take a range from different countries, Allied and Axis. Cast your vote!

The p51 may not be the best plane but it sure is the prettiest.

It has to be the P51, as many years ago I had the great job of working on many of the old WWII aircraft owned by Doug Arnold at "Warbirds of Blackbushe", you name it, we had it from the only surviving original (flying) Sopwith Camel to 1950 Meteors and Vampire Jets and just about everything in-between, but it was always a close call between the P51 and the Mosquito to the best one we had there, and as the Mosquito not on the list it has to be the P51. Unfortunately our old P51 crashed and was destroyed in La Roche-sur-Yon, France, July 24, 1998. Don't blame me I stoped working on it in 1983....

The best all rounder on the list is the P51 Mustang. The others were all good at specific roles, but for all round ability was the P51.

Zero, without a doubt, this was the plane flown by the best fighter pilot in WW2 - Saburo Sakai.

Though if you were a German soldier in Stalingrad I imagine the Ju52 would get your vote.... :D

As Lenin says quantity has a quality all of its own, it has to be the IL-2 - the most produced aircraft type of WW2 :D
