Hi all,

Can anyone tell me where the nearest surviving Dakotas are to Oxfordshire?

Want to go and have a good look at one. I know they have one at Duxford and they have the ones at Coventry. Just wondered if there were anymore closer??

Cheers

Adrian

Sorry, get it now!

I would assume this makes sense as if I remember, Duxford only has the one Dak there in the AAM?

The C-47 at Dunsfold is owned by Aces High who do film work with their aircraft. It's the C-47 that's in Quantum of solace.

47 Air Despatch Squadron based at Brize Norton have moved their Dakota from Lyneham to inside the base so unfortunately it's not to be seen by the public.

The Kemble based C-47 was an absolute stunner but left for sunny Florida in 2011. So unfortunately your options ain't great.

Neil.

Cheers for that Neil.

It's surprising that there actually aren't that many in the UK, yet there are so many survivng!

C-47 Drag 'em oot resides at East Kirkby, Lincs and is my personal favourite. I'm very honoured to have had the opportunity to have flown alongside her last year.
