I couldn't be there in person but here is a little bit of news from East Kirkby. This will probably become something done twice yearly, though no passengers are allowed unlike the standard taxis it does.

A number of things really. First CAA regs mean that she needs completely stripping and rebuilding with new rivets and potentially components subject to corrosion - most likely a new main spar.

Once you get the aircraft in the air you've got more chance of things going wrong than if it stays on ground runs, so in my opinion she's safer on the ground. As it stands the area at East Kirkby would be enough to allow take-off, but there is not enough area to land afterwards.
