There ain't a lot of FW190s left now. Granted, they served with the French Airforce after the war (had a nasty habit of falling out of the sky, due to Frenchmen sabotaging bits when under the Boche - case of what comes around...), bd

Believe it or not Reidy, the French also used Nakajimas in Indochina when they kicked the Japs out.

I don't think the problem with the me 262 is to restore the airplane but to find a pilot crazy enough to fly in it. In it's time it was really experimental and it's jet engines were so new that they were never seriously tested. They suffered from a desease called "blowingupittes". Meaning they could explode just like that when the pilot pushed the accelerator a bit to much. That's one of the reasons nowadays no one wants to fly one.

Yes, the Jumos were a problem, since they were functioning at the edge of the technological envelope.

There is evedence that the ME262's were first to break the sound barrier where the pilot woul black out in a steep dive hear a loud bang weak up just in time to save the plaine but they dident just go bang at high speeds they would start to shake comeing up to mach 1 loosing rivits and parts but i never herd of them going bang unless hit by something also a nother problem was landing and takeing off as they had to go very slow and allide pilots would take theis oppertunity to make there kill so they had FW190's to circle the airfield to protect the ME262's!!

There is evidence of Mustangs, Spitfires and Tempests breaking the sound barrier in a dive, it was alsways level flight that was the problem

American AAAW Bty ariel recongnition test:

Does it look like a plane?

Is it flying?

If the answer is Yes to both of the above do you a: Fire at it, or b: Aim then fire at it.

If your Answer is a or b which weapon do you use: a: Colt Pistol or any hand gun, b: Rifle, c: Machine Gun, d: Stotgun, e: AA gun, f: AT Gun or G: Flame thrower

If you answered a through f then you pass and may join your chosen AAAW battery, if its G then GET THE HELL AWAY FROM US, THE FARTHEST THE BETTER...You WILL be deployed to the Pacific....
