Right this bike has been lying awaiting restoration for a while now. I'm just getting around to it now.

It is rather surprisingly NOT another Flying Flea! :D It is a 1936 DKW RT 98 (The beast RE copied the Flea from!)

I was just wondering if anyone out there has one themselves? Even better, does anyone have any spare parts lying around for it?

I'd really like to get this one going for this season! I plan on doing it up as a Wehrmacht Version in Feld Grau, is there a BS paint code which equates to Feld Grau?
Many thanks,

Matt

What you want is DunkelGrau RAL7021.
Feld grau was the uniform colour. Vehicle paint wasnt the same.

Okay that's great thank you. Can this be obtained through the British Standard colour system?

All the best,
Matt

Can see where BSA got the idea for the D1 Bantam.

Most auto paint shops can mix to RAL?
The problem is that shades have changed for some RAL colours since the war. RAL7021 is still in the list unlike the later RAL7028 DunkleGelb. I dont know if it is one of the shades that have changed.
You might be better getting paint from one of the historic vehicle paint companies?

Okay thanks for the advice, I shall try a mixed up sample of RAL7021 and if it's no good I'll go down the specialist military vehicle company route. I'd guess there may be some on sale at Stoneleigh if all else fails.

Sort of yes, although the Bantam was based on the DKW RT 125 which is a little bigger than this which is only a 98cc. The 125cc Royal Enfield Flying Flea was based on this, the RT 98 and is near enough a carbon copy!

All the best,
Matt

C J Aerosoles were always a favourite of mine, as they did nearly the full range of BS 381 colours, and you could choose the paint type , the finish etc... (but now their website has recently changed and it's only showing the far more limited BS 381C range) all for £9.99 a can delivered.

Anyway, enough of my rambling, they'll do RAL 7021 too http://customfilledaerosols.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=59&product_id=237&sort=pd.name&order=ASC
