With originals getting rare and expecting silly money, has anybody thought about a replica?

Maybe Land Rover based, I know originals were only two wheel drive.

Any thoughts from anybody?

Just in the planning stage at the moment, awaiting a lottery win to proceed any further.

To be honest mate they are still relatively easy to find. I'd find it a waste of cash to make replicas out of them, most replicas on the market are good or don't quite cut the mustard.

For example the 222 replicas are good outside, but (from what I've seen) lacklustre inside, the StuG and PIII replicas again look good but then you realise they don't have anything like the right suspension or correct wheels - but thats a limit of the 432 chassis.

Thus far the reproductions I think that work are, Spitfires, ME262s - all that malarky, along with some of the WW1 stuff and especially the wonderful Carden Loyd. Railway preservation has restored a lot and now rebuilding designs that were totally lost to Beeching (or before) with modern technologies/efficient materials - which can be controversial but still does the ticket.

For WW2 what I could see the benefit in reproducing:
Beaverettes
Bedford Ironsides
Vickers Mediums
(a load of) Churchill Croc trailers
And a variety of 'proper' looking PIV/Panther replicas for film work.

As for trucks - drop me a line with your budget as I do still hear of total bargains for sale... and occasionally get offered!
