Well, all I can say Philip, is that it looks like you have taken on a major task there - but the very best of luck to you! I for one am glad that you found her before her condition became worse, otherwise she may have been beyond help! I also hope that you keep the Forum up to date with your progress as the restoration continues - and it is a shame you are so far from me, or I would've offered an extra pair of hands if you needed them! (Not that I doubt you will go short-handed with offers of help rom the Forum!!)

Best of British (and Soviet and Polish!) luck to you!

Paul B

The kettenkrad uses basically the same engine [opel 1500] as the opel olympia with different mountings .I believe repro body parts are available.a second engine has been acquired to fix the SBG's olympia so there is the potential of some spare engine parts being available in the new year[2006]/General motors didnt merge with opel until the fifties but the similarities between their products is easy to see.

Good luck with the rebuild [if you need any help with the engine i'd be glad to help ]

would appreciate some help on sourcing engine parts.

need a distributor, carb, dynamo, starter, water pump backplate, water pump pulley and a clutch

any help would be brilliant

There was a very fine specimen of a Kettenkrad driving around at the Victory Show this weekend, I was lucky enough to hitch a ride on it! It belongs to Andy and is painted up as a German vehicle. Must say I am a big fan of the Kettenkrad after the Victory Show! 8)
