I am a jeep owner, and I co-run a research group which is dedicated to the study of the Jeep in British service in both WW2 and the postwar years. I'd love to hear from any vehicle owners who own jeeps that served with the British army, or that you think might have. We are making major progress on research of the subject and building an extensive photo archive, particularly of the jeeps in their postwar service years, and have even found the first members vehicle in a photo during its service.

Any photos of the jeep in postwar service are always appreciated and can be very valuable to us. I'd also like to know of any and all surviving British service jeeps which you own and use today, we can also likely help you with research into your own British service jeep. This is entirely non-profit, and run by jeep enthusiasts.

Here is my '44 Willys, which is a British contract jeep. And yes I normally do shave for events, just not this one, bite me :-) Typical impression is 53rd Airlanding light Regiment (Worcestershire Yeomanry). Jeep is M1502620, and 48YJ27 in the postwar years. (1949 on)

So come on, please share your jeeps, and/or service photos.

Have you thought of posting your request on one or more of these forums?

Yep, and I already have. I am casting the net wide. Plenty of people stick to one or two forums, and I know there are plenty of MV owners in the re-enactment scene that don't use those vehicle forums. We have hundreds of members in our discussion group on facebook. This was a feeler being put out to find more.

Another idea.
If you are a member of the MVT, you could send your request to Geoff Fletcher for inclusion in "Observation Post" in "Windscreen". Geoff Fletcher's email is OP@mvt.org.uk

Thanks. I am indeed in touch with him too and he has been most useful. He has written a few articles on the subject of British jeeps.

You may be interested in that I picked up some sealed beam units (ex WD) dated to the late 1940's which are clearly designed to convert the wing mounted B/O lamp to a driving spot lamp. I have never seen any photos of these in use., Have you?
