Not too bad on the whole, the problems arise when it comes to the port you're exporting from on the State's side.
My dad bought a 1/2 ton dodge panel van oh 4-5 years ago and that was shipped out of Boston, they dealt with all the paperwork and everything went smooth as, smiles all round :D then about 18 months ago he shipped a 1943 Chevy Buffalo firetruck out of Florida . . . utter nightmare late shipping departure meaning the truck bumbled around the Caribbean for weeks, they hauled it into the inspection yard to make sure the container did indeed have a firetruck in it (having already checked and rechecked the paperwork) once they had unloaded and unsealed the container, looked in and said "yeah what do you know it IS a firetruck" they charged several hundred pounds for the pleasure then it all had to be resealed and reloaded. Then there was the NIGHTMARE of registering the old girl with the DVLA at our end (after they had argued that our paperwork was to pot which it wasn't!) long story short it all came good in the end.

BEWARE as we've learned (and even been told by American officials) it all depends on which port you ship out of!

My White Scout Car - chassis up restoration just completed by an excellent workshop in France - next job markings and internal wireless fit out.

Few last bits to add like roof, jerry can holders, blackout hoods for front lights... otherwise done and on the road.

Tony

Nothing as yet - but it will end up as "A" Squadron, GHQ Liaison Regt (Phantom), 21 AG, for North West Europe, 1944/45 _ i have a sufficient number of photos to get the markings right on the whole vehicle except the rear panel - however from research with surviving veterans and the War Diaries I think I have this nailed now too (though always happy to see original pics!).

Will be fitting with the Canadian WS9 radio (Forerunner of the WS52), fitted from late August 1944 - this radio replaced the WS22 used in Normandy (though do have that for an alternate installation too) - I have a complete WS9 vehicle installation which is now working on Receive - more work required to get the transmitter working... the Power Supply Unit for the Transmitter pumps out 2500v (though the manual states an operating voltage of 1500v), so some care is required to ensure there are no dead shorts, and also to reform the Electrolytic Capacitors so they dont go pop (fortunately these only exist in the HT dynamotor and the receiver).

Happy to get some magnetics and run as a different unit if you have a specific requirement?

Cheers

Tim

My latest vehicle project... would like to have it on the road by 2018... but that will depend on how much the restoration costs.

Looking for 17pdr gun parts, specifically elevation mechanism, semi-auto gear and firing mechanism.

Please PM me if you have any parts, or know anyone with any for sale.

Also happy to consider WS19 AFV cabling for the turret fit out.

Cheers

Tim

I am new to this forum and reenacting group. I have a 1942 GPW in restoration and expect to have it completed
within the next 6 to 8 months. Can anyone tell me if this group will be active in participating in reenactments at the
Normandy Beaches for next year or up coming anniversaries perhaps as far out as the 75th in 2019 ? I am from
California and would like to start making preparations to bring my jeep and drive it in a reenactment on the beach.
