A few years ago I picked up a set of padded 'Y' straps at the not unreasonable price of £30.
Very happy I was too when I gave them a good looking over and found that they had RZM
stamps upon the front pair of straps and then I thought, 'what if'?
There are oval manufacturer stamps on them too which are difficult to read, but there are
date stamps with FG.1944 with a 5 overstamped on the 4 of 44 on both left and right
straps. The rear strap has FWG.1945 stamped on it but no RZM markings.
However, the stiched on 'Tan and Water' padding screams out postwar addition or recent
knock-up!
Is it possible they are a set of composite straps using original (as I believe they might
be) components, and re-manufactured for postwar use?
Pics to follow.

Can't remember about the Bonn Gangsters, but the DDR used a lot of fash leather gear in the early days of the KVP and the KDA.

Ironically, these days you see DDR leather gear sold for fash reenactment LOL

Towards the end, anything went - if there were offcuts laying around, they were used...
Mind you, if the padding is obvious Post War Sumpfmusser, then is it one of these:

Genossen,
We need Images of this Complex, Czechy Yokes will have the Wire Hooks on the Aux straps and the Back at shoulder height rather than D Rings, very early ones will have Gitlerite Hooked D Rings.... which looks really odd.

They aren't the post war Austrian straps are they? They are often called Gebirgsjager Y straps and have padding on the underside, they often have RZM stamps for some strange reason though I assume that is from he early days of reenacting before repro's were available.
