I just recieved my em leather belt from Richard Underwood. I have to admit the leather is of good quality but im a little unsure of the thickness of the rear (two holed adjustable) tongue. It seems a bit thin to be honest and i would have thought the original to be thicker to resist tearing under load, but , lets see, if it does tear, its a new piece fitted at the local saddlers.
now going for one of his Buckles , ss steel type.

The inner tongue is meant to be thinner.... so it is correct as is!

The main belt leather should be 45mm wide, and at least 4mm thick: with the best (smooth) side inwards...
The tongue should be about 2.5mm thick.

Hope the belt is better than the ones I have seen.

After measuring the belt it is 45 mm wide , approximately 4 mm thick and tongue is about 2.5 mm thick , so it looks like it is close to the original spec.
The leather does feel good quality, it just looked thinner than the pictures i viewed of originals.
danke für antworten.

Fear ye not yon edelweiss. When I first went over to the dark side I thought the same. This isn't gonna be load bearing but how wrong I was. I have a belt for fighting order, walking out dress and parade order and no probs with any of them. Apart from the huge weight loss I've had this past couple of months .. now I have a to flog them.

Well. There is that but the last of the good saddlers in Medway closed down a number of years ago. Which is a bugger. I don't even think there are any leather workers in the Dockyard either. Could make some enquiries.

A 34/36 waist down to a 29" in 2 months has slightly buggered up kit and uniforms lol

Good suggestion Herr Sadler. An option I hadn't considered. :-)

...an an option I offer too!!

Seeing as I make the belts from scratch I have some specialist knives for cutting the ends the correct profile, etc.

The end to shorten is the one with the metal clip

E-mail me if you need info

Just bought new em belt from SOF under R A Underwood section , but tbh i dont think they are exactly what Richard himself stocks ,although he says they are made to his standards, the belt is bit different to the one i had from him few years ago , maybe just that little bit not as well stitched and made etc.
Does ATF sell superior repros both clothing and webbing , or is there a better supplier for belts y-straps etc?.. many thx . :)
