Come across this photo on another forum, and am banging my head against a brick wall as everyone claims its not a wSS man in the pic. Now,it clearly is,but if anyone knows the pattern of camo,or in fact anymore details it would shut a few german bashers up. Thanks.http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h313/Michel_album/WAR/ss_manhelpsenemy.jpg

From my limited knowledge I would say that is a planetree helmet cover and an oak smock. I would not expect to see anyone other than a member of the Waffen SS to wear both of those.

Others will be able to say more.

Ashley

Can't determine what pattern the "smock" is, but interesting to see it has seams running from the shoulders, could be field made!

Plane Tree type one helmet cover and if im not mistaken its Palm clump smock.

Im not 100% but i think the photo comes from a series regarding the battle of Kursk.

You know jon,I had that thought about it being from Kursk, but really wasnt sure. The weather conditions would back that up as its obviously summer. And thanks for the specifics too.
Is it just me or do his trousers seem to have more a riding breaches look to them?

no they were on anti partizan operations i think, its probably someone from an aufklaerung abteilung with a unusal or modified palmsmock on, or judging by the lack of of equipment from a motorized unit there is another picture in the kursk waffen ss book number 6 where the same individual is standing up next to the russian casualty (he has the same gear on the camo is in identical places on the cover and the watch is the same and he is not wearing horse trousers lol) and his personal weapon is an mp40, judging from the series of pictures he drives up in a mannschaftwagen a horsch or possibly a merc it has a tac sign on it but i cannot see it very clear page 40-47 shows this in that book
