a company in germany called german sport guns (gsg) are planning to produce a live firing semi auto version of the mp40 and the mp44
to add to their mp5 clone they allready produce

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MO2TrxviR0I

in gunmart ( september issue p212 )
they list it as coming 2012 but in their website

http://www.gunmart.net/gun_review/cmmg/

they say the mp40 might not due to the barrel length ??

as these will be in .22 rimfire they should be available to the uk market ,,,,

i suppose we will have to wait and see

on a firearms certificate of course for those that are not sure

I have shot this. The wood isnt great I have seen better wood on a denix, the metal feels the same weight but it feels low in quality. The action in the gun is of medium quality nothing to rave about. The cocking of the action feels like a children's toy almost. The mag is plastic and looks awful in the gun. I almost bought one but went for a real AR15 with a .22 upper instead as I couldn't bare to spend that much on something i thought wasn't built to meet that asking price. With all the grief you get for having incorrect looking things i doubt it would server well as a carry gun for reenacting and it dosnt cycle on blanks so its useless for battles. I have looked at the MP40 and it seems to be much better made, the plastic dosnt make up for the original material but the metal and the action feel much better. The barrel length wont be an issue as the UZI the same company makes is much shorter.

It looks ok, but get close and it is clearly lacking in areas. Shoot it and you will have fun but it likes to jam up after a few mags as the action dosnt shed dirt well and it will only work best on HV .22 ammo otherwise it will jam up and gouge bullets.
