Hi all.

Some years back I acquired the 'majority' of a Erfurt 1915 marked Kar98a from a friend, and its been sat on a shelf for ages. I've recently decided that I should do something with it and I'm hoping you guys may be able to help.

The reason I say 'majority' is that its been modified at some point. Its had a section of the front wood stock removed, roughly from the metal band onwards. This isn't a major issue as I've found a bit of wood a similar colour and cut it to shape.

However - other than its missing Bolt, which I know is unlikely to be replaceable/replicated due to british firearm laws, its missing the peice of metal from the end of the barrel that had the bayonet mounting and stacking rod.

Does anyone know where I might be able to find similar or replica parts for the

a) stacking rod/bayonet mount
b) the floorplate (The thing that sits on the underside of the rifle just head of the trigger guard)

or alternatively may be able to give me any further advice?

I'm also missing the stacking hook from ,my K98a. Seems to have been used by the Chinese interwar, Chinese characters ont he stock, and the safety can not be moved.

I might have to ask my buddies at the rifle club if there's anything they can do with it. I'm sure they'd be able to order the relevent bits n bobs!

You often see these type of non 'FAC' bits on ebay, and they don't always go for huge money ...
I've also had from US ebay, small items with minimal postage, obviously they have more gun stuff available so worth checking on 'worldwide' setting!
There's a good bloke called 'Marty's Mausers' on US ebay who has lots of K98 related items and wasn't excessive on postage to UK ....

If the barrel is clear and capable of having a round sit in it then, by all rights it has to be held on a licence

I know it might appear as a harmless bit of metal, but thats not how the police see it

if all you have is a barrel and the barrel is clear then its has to be entered on a valid F.A.C.
