There is question over these items that they are actually section 1 FAC due to barrel length of 23ins, unless they have been rebarreled. A barrel extention doesn't count aparently! Just beware.

not on section 2.
7.92 is a rimless roundso also has bigger base diameter than .303/.410

not a simple conversion

Thanks for both your replies - I was under the impression that the conversion was done by resizing the chamber and taking the rifling out of the barrel ? Also I may have not explained myself properly - I'm trying to acquire a converted K98

i've got shotguns! I'd like a k98 but you can't have one as barrel too short. and even if barrel wasn't then your have to redesign the Mauser extractor.

.410 is interchangable with .303 as the base of the shell is exactly (or near as damn it) the same! (also the same as .45 colt) .410 2" shells were originally made from used .303 for instance.

a K98 uses a rimless round and is slightly larger than a .303 chamber. so technically its not the same as converting an enfield. (or p14 or ross)

arisaka's might seem .303 but they also use a rimless round. the italian guns are rimless and smaller.

forget about the technicalities of the conversion and remember that you can no longer take an FAC and turn it into a Section 2. They've changed the rules. so legally its no longer an option to get a new build or conversion.

you could find a 7.92 shotgun g98 (longer barrel) or a 7.62 shotgun moisin - there are lots of .303 calibre lee enfield shotguns out there which the barrel simply had its rifling taken out and not rebored to be a live firing .410. but you then end up with a gun you can never find or legally own bullets for. not a problem for reenacting if you only want blank.

edit g98 conversion http://texastradingpost.com/militaria/geha.html - 26in barrel! £200 in the states. there's a few on gunmart.

but its not a k98.

i had a rather nice sportorised 12g 1871 mauser single shot for a little while. completely useless for reenacting though
