Hi i wounder if anyone can help me? i have a K98 that has a brass plate on the butt,i have not seen any with this on, the riffle is dated 1937 also this is on a shot gun licence and is also for sale what would be a fare asking price,i will post photo's thanks inadvance Steve

Never seen that before,looks like part of a kreigsmarine buckle but I could be wrong!

Looks like the centre of the Wehrmacht buckle, is it painted brass or is it made from brass? I once had a Spanish make K98 which had a circular brass plate in the same place. No idea why it's on this model though!

it is made of brass,i had told someone about this rifle and he said it might be kreigsmarine but he said he would have to see it first

It would have been added 'after market' i.e. privately, not military issue.

There is a very, very outside chance that it was a show piece made up by a Kriegsmarine armourer for a drill display but this is very unlikely, never seen before and with no provenance to back this up not worth considering.
