I have an orig K98 and have had about 6 years, the only time I find it hard to close the bolt is when I have resized ammo, 7.92 mine is and as we all know 7.62 is the norm these days,

find a good supplyer of 7.92 and you should not have much trouble, good skill at arms as well will always help make sure you dont get a build up of old cordite and crap in the breach as that will also not help to close the bolt.

My extractor is fine but from time to time I get one stuck, its all about using the weapon as it should be and not like eddy murphy. you go ramming that bolt up without much due care and also the loading of your rounds without due care you get these problems.

weapons are like women, there all different and from time to time they play up, but they all have holes and you can bang them from time to time!

hhhoooo arreee ....

Don't worry fellas, I'm afraid Keppler's just having another cobblers attack. Our feldgendarmerie will be administering his 'medication' at the first available opportunity (or Stabscha. Siegal will if he's REALLY unlucky)

Did he get to meet "Large Michael" last weekend? - Unfortunately we were too busy for keppler to get properly acquainted. Did briefly get to see mr Franks, can say he was very VERY quiet. Looked like a virgin sheep on "Yorkshire Day" - nervous.

The problem you have is caused by slow chambering of a 7.62 blank which causes the blank to jump clear of the extractor.
Having the barrel pointing down when you chamber a round can also cause this.
It is a fault when using a resised 7.62 blank, but you just have to remember to cycle the action quickly.

Gurowski (the maker of those rounds)

The reason for your feed problem could be because you have a 7.92mm chamber and you are putting resized 7.62mm rounds into it, if the resized 7.62mm is not done accurratley then they will be to fat for your chamber.
Before you buy an expensive extractor claw try a different batch of resized 7.62mm.

some peole might not be aware that the k98 has to extract a round from the mag that way the extractor claw is in front of the rim when the bolt is closed

if you just drop a round in the breach and try and close the bolt then you will have trouble closing the bolt as you are squashing the rim as you do so with the extractor

also when you now try to eject the fired round
you are now relying on the rim you just tore into to work properly
