Hi,

I'm after some advice about RAF coveralls.

I have seen photos of ground crew in coveralls, button up, with epaulettes, wearing a shirt and tie and black shoes, plus a RAF FS cap.

Was this common?

If so are there any reproduction coveralls out there? Who sells them and what is the quality like?

Shirt white or a light RAF blue? hard to tell from photos.

Tie black?

I am far too old to be aircrew at 50 but ground crew I think I could carry off.

The set up above strikes me as being cheaper to acquire as opposed to RAF BD and all the trimmings.

Any thoughts and or advice please?

Thanks

Hi. Yes, coveralls is common enough. See for instance: http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205210795 and even better: http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205219402

I don't know about repro ones, but would be interested to know. I recently bought old "Hold Fast" overalls, and I'm trying to find out what make the RAF used.

Light blue shirt and black tie.

Our RAF reenactment group are mostly groundcrew, and one of our WAAFs wears coveralls. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =3&theater

Thanks for the reply and the links.
