My mosin has a repair at the left hand side of the receiver. Looks like the same sort of repair you'd see to a rifle thats been 'de-snipered' post war. Now if it had been an M91/30 I wouldn't be intrigued, it'd either indeed be an ex-sniper stock(receiver has never been tapped to accept PU mounts). The rifle is infact a 44 dated Izhevsk M38, however it has seen a refurb post-war. All numbers match bar the stock. Is the stock a m91/30 cut down? Other features of the stock suggest its mid-late war M38 through and through. Any ideas?

Have you tried looking at this site?

http://mosinnagant.net/

All sorts of things were done post war including the manufacture of spare parts and stocks so anything is possible.

You can also post your question here.
