After finding a few pictures of this sten chest I would like to find out more about this chest.

In wich period was it used and could some one help me with a picture of the inside and dimensions etc?

Yep quite strange, only know the large shipping boxes or the late/post war ones.

It's the standard chest used for a number of different guns like Thompsons, STENs, 2" mortar? etc. D&B wanted £2000 for it (and the 2 guns)and then Antiques **ore house bought it (Probably at trade) and want £2500 for it.

I don't think the markings are war-time and are there any pictures of the interior any where.

The markings are complete fabrication.

For a start it was known as the STEN MC (Machine Carbine) not 'STEN machine gun'. And there would be no tacky pic of a STEN.

More than likely it should read something like

'Chest, Carbine, Machine, STEN MkII' or 'Chest, MC, STEN MkII/III' with a separate 'Qnty 2'

I have a real Sten storage box for sale on my web site. Description reads:

British Storage and Transit Box for the Sten Mark V Submachine Gun. These were produced at the end of WWII so that the bulk of the Sten Mark 5 SMGs could be placed into strategic stores for future use. Original label on one side indicates the full contents that the box would have held including the weapon, magazines, sling and cleaning kit. Box is in excellent condition but the sealant that was applied to the factory labels has gone off-white with age. Rare and unique machine gun transit case that is seldom encountered in collections today.

It's in the weapons section and the link to the main page is:
