Hi, my grandfather was a royal marine serving on landing craft on d day, sadly he died when I was young so I couldn't ask him.
My question is, would landing craft crew have worn the straight cashier type "Royal marine" titles on BD above the combined ops badge or the curved rocker type?
Many thanks!

Yes you are correct, cash tape Royal Marine was the type worn by LC crews,do you know if your grandfather got converted to the infantry role later in the war as so many LC rates did?.

Hi Sea soldier, thanks for your reply, yes he was attached to 117 infantry brigade RM in Feb 45.
I originally believed he was a commando until a copy of his service record surfaced in the family.
He passed out of Plymouth in May 40, attatched to 3rd battalion RM, then 46 commando up until they went to Arachnacarry when he was attatched to copra and landing craft training.
