Would anyone know what was done with the Lend-Lease No 4s after the war? Were they returned to the US, still used by the Post-War army? Dumped into the ocean as was done with the Corsairs? Just curious.

Cheers,
Peter

Anything supplied under Lend Lease either had to be paid for at the end of hostilities or disposed of in accordance with American instructions.

If the equipment was somewhere it could not be easily disposed of or sold, sea dumping was an option. I had an uncle who served in the Fleet Air Arm in the Far East who could remember pushing brand new aircraft off the side of his Carrier into the sea.

I remember reading that when Britiain said that the US can have their Corsairs back, the US responed with dump them, we don't want them. Then Korea started.
