Anyone know anything about this nice little piece of kit. I'v been told they were around but not on general issue. Can anyone enlighten me please?

Do you mean the American M1918 Trench Knife? It found it's way to some US Paras, but not, to my knowledge Brits (The FS had a pretty mean Pommel! TBH the US Knife doesn't conform with the Brit training). This is not to say that there weren't civvy ones used :wink:

Er - a picture/photo would help

There WERE knuckle knives on British issue/use - maybe its one of those?
BC-41, Robbins of Dudley, etc. etc.
But, as Oggy said - it may be US

Post a pic please & you'll have all doubt removed...
