Hi guys,

I have a M1942 shortened bayonet ordnance stamped AFH 1942 in a scabbard that has 'E-US' within the ordnance flaming bomb/grenade make. Any ideas why 'E-US'?

Thanks in advance

Lloyd,

Thanks for the quick response and the info. I have seen the modified scabbard with the webbing hanger loop - this one has the normal wire attachment to thread through the grommets on the cartridge belt. Out of interest how much were they going for at Beltring as I'll probably sell this on now I know its origins.

Hi KR varied from poor condition ones with webbing hanger.......at about £50...thru good condition ones with just the metal drag tip modification to the original M7 scabbard and the euro restamps but M1910 wire belt hook at about £65.

Mind you there were some at mental prices too ...original ones

Regards

Lloyd

Lloyd, seeing the prices of m1 bayonets at this year w&p im bloody glad I got my sharp pointy things a few years ago.
Mind you finding another wild drop forge bayonet at £15 made my day, along with the other goodies.

To All,
Recentley CMP has acquired some bayonets in quantity which are marked E US/E_US. There is much speculation as to where these were mfg and who used them. One of the answers here was Greek/Italian which the Greek was where one of the officials at CMP thought they might be from. Porters Bayonet Pages indicated one which Had these same markings on the ricasso(with aditional numbers on the guard edge). Some who have received their bayo's have scabards with Nationalist Chinese/Taiwan markings. One persons thought was that "EN S" stood for "European NATO Supplied" In the middle of the markings is the Ordnance bomb which would indicate a U.S. mfg. Any help I.D.ing the origins of these markings would be appreciated !! 2ad82recon post indicated E_US was European US mfg. My 2 cent guess was they were mfg in quantity with the Flaming Bomb, then the other markings added by the receipient. Bayonet Points website has some codes for lend lease/grant bayonets of which "E" stands for Excess" Property/Supply.

Thanks in Advance

Maurice

it doesnt appear to be modified

there is an embossed serial number on it too if this is any help, 'Y 6850'
slightly pissed off now as i thought it was a ww2 bayonet
the sheath doesnt have any of these markings other than the flaming bomb
