Hello all,

I'm looking into making up a few grenade crates so am on the look out for photos of ones that MKII fragmentation grenades, White Phosphorus and normal smoke grenades were packed in.

I've seen on Stricly GI that the dimensions for the MKII crate are 16 5/16" x 7 5/8" x 17 10/16" and 17 ¾" x 9 ¼" x 17 ½" for the W.P. crates.

If anyone has any detailed pictures of the crates and how they are put together I'd be really appreciative.

Cheers,

Paul

I have a wooden grenade crate - British type- but its not got a lid, though there are ordnance several markings on it...

I was going to sell it, as I dont really need it (only got two mills bombs now)

If its of interest you are welcome to borrow it...or let me know whatever the going rate is

Jon

Hi John,

Sorry for the late reply. I'm really looking for US grenades. But thanks for the offer.

Anyway, to bump this thread:

I was wondering if anyone had or knew where to find the dimensions, detailed photographs and/or schematics of ordnance crates for US grenades.

I'm interested in the Mk 2 grenade primarily but would also be grateful for any information about WP and smoke grenade crates too.

Also, if you have any information on crates from later periods in history (up to about 1980) I'd, again, be grateful for any information given.

Cheers,

Paul

That looks spot on!

Just out of interest, where did you get your grenades from?

Ta,

Paul

I found this shop selling dummy hand grenades.

They offer pineapple, lemon and baseball grenades for £14.95.

Has anyone bought from them? To be honest, I'm a bit hesitant to buy from them without seeing the grenade in person.

Anyone else bought one?

Paul
