I take it breaking into northern Irish armouries to retrofit and harvest their WWII spec parts didn't pan out then, Lloyd?

Hi Lloyd
please excuse my ignorance on the subject. You appear to be the expert on MI Carbines.
Could you answer these queries for me please?
1. Did any WW2 issue/manufactured M1 Carbines have "rotary" safeties fitted?
2.If it was a postwar M1 Carbine with a 'rotary', could a 'push' safety be fitted to make it more authentic( what type would it be 'checkerd' etc.) I know you are a 'perfectionist/purist' when it comes to 'authentic' WW2 issue and would probably not agree with this, however is it possible and, if so,is it much of a job to get one and fit it to an "old" spec. deact carbine?
3. Any WW2 issue M1 carbines fitted with a 'selective-fire' lever or was this on post war M1/ M2's?
Many thanks for time/trouble for anticipated answer.

1. Did any WW2 issue/manufactured M1 Carbines have "rotary" safeties fitted?................ONLY EXCEEDINGLY LATE PRODUCTION INLANDS AND WINCHESTERS.....were factory fitted to carbines...it would be highly unlikely that a carbine made it to the ETO/PTO before hostilities ended....it was standard fitment on ALL postwar armory rebuild carbines Dave.

2.If it was a postwar M1 Carbine with a 'rotary', could a 'push' safety be fitted to make it more authentic( what type would it be 'checkerd' etc.) I know you are a 'perfectionist/purist' when it comes to 'authentic' WW2 issue and would probably not agree with this, however is it possible and, if so,is it much of a job to get one and fit it to an "old" spec. deact carbine?.......Yes you can retrofit a wartime push saftey to ANY WW2 production carbine......you cannot fit them to Iver Johnson or Plainfield Commercial post war copy carbine.

3. Any WW2 issue M1 carbines fitted with a 'selective-fire' lever or was this on post war M1/ M2's?.......ONLY on M2 fully auto carbines or armory conversion M1/M2 carbines had the selector lever ....many WW2 stocks were modified with the "slot" for this switch

sorry for the late reply Dave..i hope this helps

Regards

LLoyd
