Oh, sorry, didn't realise you wanted an answer! Yep, looks original - all the markings in the right places, and who in the right minds would stamp something dodgy with a 1958 mildew treatment date?

There was a thread on one of the American forums last year about pattern stocks. A dealer had got hold of some authentic stamps and was making copy m1 carbine stocks including the stamps, he was selling these as copies but some people were purchasing them and passing them off as genuine. Last I heard was that he was going to stop stamping them. I'm not saying this is one of those, cos it looks quite genuine, but, buyer beware and all that.

I've seen some of those really really nice repros with all stamps being sold in Belgium (as repros). Very nice!
