" Tried to get in touch, but new memberships don't appear to be getting activated & email hasn't yet responded. "

Sadly, very sadly, this has been an ongoing problem, not just with Chris but in some cases Mods too ... no one replies, no action gets taken ... !!

Mods dont have Admin rights so cant do much beyond editing/moving threads, posts etc. I was locked out for nearly 3 months but managed to get back on recently and deleted a bunch of scammer threads.

Where do people go now for advice, which was what this site was about.

Exactly ... why 'stuck with it' .. ?? no one forces people to use FB and if some idiot hadnt 'apparently' started a WWII re-enacting FB page perhaps this site would still be used the way it should be ... ?

It seems that people using facebook are realising that the facebook Nazis mare upping their campaign to freeze your account for a period just for using simple terminology or a word which offends the leftie facebook police and people are starting to look else where. When the lights are finally turned off here there will no places to go and the chance for people coming back will be too late. Because this site has hardly anyone on posting then any question raised don't get answered, waiting ages, people look else where. I wanted to ask a question about who does the best US enlisted mans repro jacket but would have to wait a long time most probably for a response. I will raise this question again about the jacket in the right column just to see. The only way to have a go at getting the forum back is to spread the word about around the shows talking about the advantages of using this site over facebook which there are seeing how facebook will end up. May be the remaining posters here could raise reenacting questions and alert them to the site on facebook with a link.If you want it use it.

Wow it looks like there is a resurgence of postings on the site, which is great to see. Hope people can answer most questions raised, we don't want people despondent otherwise they will go elsewhere. Keep it up.

From the number of 'views' the various posts get it would seem that folks are still out there reading them at least ... I can't make my mind up if they are just not sure whether to comment or not, (if they have an opinion or thought about the topioc), or they just cant be bothered .. but there does seem to be some form of interest still .. ??

I'll be honest, the place fell when the standard answer to a newbie question was "That question again?!"/"use the bloody search function"

Alright to use the search function but it gets people on the forum to use it to chat and ask other questions that old questions need updating. Anyone can search the web, may as well close the forum for good, end of story.

Yonks since I've been on here...the British & Commonwealth section ceased to function long ago and I'm mostly BEF-focussed anyway - a niche within a niche. Competing FB groups with little contact between specific interests have taken over but not filled the gap.

It's been a month now since Otto last posted on WW2talk with an offer to take over the hosting...has there been any response or movement ? I really do feel that it would be in a safe pair of hands-off hands with him. I've been on WW2t for fourteen years and although it had some early difficulties, since Otto took over, it has had updates, security and no external pressure on the moderating team.

If nothing happens, it'll be because Chris doesn't want it to.

Facebook...filter out the s**t you don't want to read and buy and sell without it taking days.
