Hi Chris
Is the event all being held in the Meridian Centre and not split between various venues?

The event is on one site, and all are welcome, but once it's full, it's full, so get in early.

Things going well, meet with the new railway operators today, about travel concessions. They want to be involved and would like if we could get 3 special groups.
1. A german group for North Sea Lane Station (Nord See Strasse) and grassed area. As well as German Field Police to ride the train between North Sea Lane and Lakeside Checking I.D Cards.
2. A home front display group for Lakeside Station (a 45 foot by 25 foot building is available with electric for display)
3. An allied military police presence to man Kingsway Station, and check I'D cards on the train between Kingsway and Lakeside.

If you or your group can help let me know.
This is as well as the normal show on Meridian Park, and the usual activities.

We are open for traders to get in touch.

Will be at Newark on Sunday from around 9.30, and will have entry forms with me. Otherwise send me an email and I'll email out. This is the early warning will be on the website in December.

Hi all, seeking some feedback.
This year for the first time we are having to cover the costs of the show, by having some minimal charges for certain things, these being.

1. A £5 charge for modern camping, caravans and motor homes, for the whole event (not per night), display camping is still free.

2. A £5 per night charge for electric hookups if you should want one, we can only do this for caravans and motorhome, and it's optional.

3. A £2 per meal charge for breakfasts and the Saturday evening meal (or £5 for all three).

And finally dance tickets are £5 for prebooked reenactors.

The question is, is charging this to make show the show happen, wrong, we have had at least one group consider it is, as it was always FREE before, and that without reenactors we don't have a show.
The counter argument is that without covering the costs, we, also don't have a show, bit of a catch 22.
We are also reenactors, and in the past one of our number has covered the costs (losses) from his business, as he no longer has that business, the show has to cover it's costs. Thoughts please.

I don't do this for money, I hate to think of what the western hobby has cost me over the 40 odd years I have been doing it, and the 10 years I have now being in WWII, however when and where asked, and when it has been offered I will take expenses ... and it is always nice to have some 'perks' from an organiser when displaying.

This event has been a refreshing one as in the past it has given something back to the displaying re-enactors, some of the extremely larger events could maybe learn from this, yes, without the re-enactors there is no event and without sponsors or covering costs there is no show either, frankly being asked to pay for meals, which after all we need to pay for anyway over this weekend, isn't a problem for me, and to be fed, at £5 for three meals, is pretty good value maybe.

As for camping, I would remind campers/caravaners that they expect to, and do, pay fees at normal camp sites and at more cost too, so to be charged what is being asked for the weekend, £15 inc hook, up is again good value, especially when you consider resort prices at that time of year ..
... as for the group that pulled out, they do not have to pay for the organisers food, there is a Premier Inn and restaurant near by, and a Macs and KFC too (at far higher cost).. !! and if they are displaying as it seems they are .. were ..?? ... then there is no camp fee of course, so I have to wonder what they are in re-enactment for personally .. ??

I'm in Chris, ... BTW not had a booking confirmation yet ..??

Hi there,

I'm new to this group, but I run a small German Field Police Group and we are interested in attending to ride the train if you are willing to have us. There are 3 of us (1 officer and 2 NCOs) and we are in DAK gear.

Regards,
