This week I had an invite to attend the Empire Cinema at Cattrick dressed as in the 40's unfortunately can't go.
Next week I will be going to my local cinema to see the Dad's Army movie as a normal cinema goer.

These things have prompted me to ask if you are attending a cinema to create atmosphere having been invited by the cinema or just going to see the film and will be dressed 40's style.

If the latter just going and paying to see the film what reactions did you get?

Thanks.

I am hoping to go and see it on Wednesday next week , I did think of going 40s civi . Don't think the missus would entertain it though .
We went to a VE day show last year at the local theatre and we were the only ones there dressed up and she wasn't happy , so much so she wanted to leave , but we stuck it out . Unfortunately the show was pants , as it was more of a end of term show for the dance school the singer ran , and that part had nothing to do with VE day at all .

Women's Navy Great Coat
Green floor length 1930s evening dress with sleeves set on net.
Blue and white rayon dress with peplum
Black velvet halter necked dress with silver shot thread skirt (may still have Harrods label in it) I have photos of all of these items and I know where they are in Scunthorpe, but would appreciate a nod if they come up for sale. [/color]

I enjoyed it,some nice little touches and laughs. If you go with the intentions of making too many comparisons to the original cast then maybe its not for you. First time I had been to the cinema in ages and was appalled at the prices. £10 for me and £7 for my Son,plus another £13 on refreshments. I must admit I did think that's £30 I could have spent on my ARP portrayal.

They should have left it well alone, but at least now it confirms the writing / acting genius of the originals !

I love most of the cast, Toby Jones is one of my favourite actors, (love detectorists) but the writing just wasn't up to scratch for me, kid from inbetweeners played...well the kid from Inbetweeners. CZJ looked stoned or something throughout.

Was nice to see our local theatre and the old Brid high st looking sort of 40s but overall I felt that I'd wasted my cash.

The original had brilliant writing, great casting and crap authenticity.

The film got 1 bit right
