I have been a member on here for nearly 10 years & I used to look forward to my daily fix of news, views & comment which this site more than satisfied.

However, nowadays it makes your average undertakers shop seem lively!

So, my question is, where has everyone gone? I guess it's FB, but as I am not a great FB aficionado, I have no idea where to start looking.

I am no longer a regular Re-enactor, but would like to keep abreast of current events & discussions, sadly this site no longer cuts the mustard.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

The General.

Most forums seem to wind down a bit.
Most may have indeed wandered of to Fartbook.

Yeah, I guess most have gone over to FaceBook and WhatsApp groups.

The hard core stich Nazis and daily posters have taken to their beds with a hot mug of chocolate…

The joys of a damp tent on a bank holiday weekend overpriced food and beer is now a distant memory.

Long gone is the desire to check out the opposition and find fault in their lack of knowledge on the number of stiches per inch in the M34A1 that was issued on Thursday 34 of August 1943 for 3 hours to the 1234th PIR composite Btl attached to the 15678th Panzer Kamffgruppe Bollocks during the battle of the Storm in a Tea cup ….

Some of them may have even grown up and realised that there is more to life that an original pair of issue long johns…
Family… children…. Work… gosh we have lives….

Now I’m not saying it wasn’t fun, all that posturing, point scoring… spending hours typing total bollocks…. Well I for enjoyed my time on here….

Banned more than once… been ‘offered out’ more than once and have defiantly annoyed plenty of forum members…

Do it again…. Yes….

:D  8)

Maybe it makes more sense just to chuck the towel in.

There does seem to be a (small admittedly) hard core who continue to peruse and post occasionally ... worth checking in for that frankly, still things to be discussed.

Fantastic - will hopefully have the bell tent there as well (unless the weather looks so bad that we kip in modern tents) because we need to sort out what we're taking to Arnhem - we're portraying the PRU at Arnhem so BBC and a couple of AFPU wearing denisons carrying cameras :)

Perhaps if we ask Chris, or he sees this we can pitch tents next to each other .. sort of dual display ??
Good luck at Arnhem, I envy you, pic looks good again, really cant fault your representation.

Thank you for the kind words but there were a few things wrong there (although I might be the only one who knows or cares).

Have a Frank Brown smock now - proper first pattern tailored for the canvas sack with sleeves look.

Ian and I have talked about doing Arnhem for years and, quite frankly if we don't do it soon, we never will.

Just got to sort out how much stuff we're going to be taking along for four days ... it was going to be such a light weight impression although the new typewriter helps ....

1938 Hermes Baby typewriter as carried by Jack Smyth of Reuters into battle - it's about half the size of any other typewriter I own and will be joining me on display in preference to all of the portables I own that weigh a ton.
